Big Recruiting Weekend Incoming for UW Football — Here’s Who’s Visiting
Washington Huskies football prepares for a pivotal recruiting weekend May 30–June 1, hosting top 2026 prospects and key commits
This is the last full month of recruiting for the Washington Huskies football team before the recruiting dead period from June 23 through July 31st. The first big recruiting weekend is coming on May 30 through June 1. The Huskies are slated to host several of its top 2026 targets and commits.
Below is a brief preview of Washington’s official visitors this coming weekend, with my brief commentary on each prospect. Star ratings and rankings come from 247 Sports.
5/27, 8:15 p.m. update: Added Brandon Arrington to list. Ryan Gilbert will not be visiting.
Four-star Athlete Salesi Moa (2026) - May 28
6-2, 175 lbs, Fremont High School in Utah - No. 57 player overall, No. 6 athlete, and No. 1 player in Utah
Moa rescheduled his official visit after it was cancelled on the weekend of UW’s spring game. The Huskies have remained in pursuit of Moa since their coaches made multiple visits to see Moa in Utah back in January.
UW-commit, four-star Edge Derek Colman-Brusa (2026) - May 30-June 1
6-5, 270 lbs, Kennedy Catholic in Burien - No. 162 player overall, No. 19 edge, and No. 1 player in Washington.
The Huskies landed perhaps their No. 1 recruiting priority in May. Colman-Brusa, widely considered the No. 1 Washington State prospect in the Class of 2026, announced his commitment to the Huskies at the beginning of May. Jedd Fisch kept Colman-Brusa from joining rival Oregon and national powerhouse Ohio State. After his commitment, Colman-Brusa told me: “Why not Washington? As a local it makes sense to be a part of building what is cooking. I believe in it.”
UW-commit three-star Cornerback CJ Lavender (2026) - May 30 - June 1
5-11, 175 lbs, Mater Dei in California - No. 98 Cornerback and No. 98 player in California.
Lavender’s commitment to Washington in March continued an impressive recruiting run the Huskies have had with the Southern California football powerhouse. Washington Secondary Coach John Richardson made an in-home visit with Lavender in May.
UW-commit three-star Kicker C.J. Wallace (2026) - May 30 - June 1
5-11, 160 lbs, St. John Bosco in California - No. 4 Kicker and No. 313 player in California
After his Junior Day visit in March, Wallace called new Washington Special Teams Coordinator Chris Petrilli “impressive” and Wallace said he was “eager to get on campus and be a part of the program Coach Fisch is building.” Wallace is one of the top high school kickers in the country.
UW-commit three-star Defensive Lineman Ah Deong Yang (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-4, 320 lbs, Puyallup HS in Washington - No. 127 Defensive Lineman and No. 17 player in Washington
The local recruit earned 3A All-State honors as a junior at Roosevelt HS. He will be starring for Puyallup HS next season after transferring this past spring. Yang attended UW’s spring game and attended a spring practice in April.
UW-commit three-star Quarterback Derek Zammit (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-0, 190 lbs, DePaul Catholic in New Jersey - No. 20 Quarterback and No. 5 player in New Jersey
Zammit’s recruitment flew under the radar as Huskies fans were focused on now Michigan-commit Brady Smigiel. Fisch, who is a New Jersey-native, has made it a point to make the Washington football program known in his home state. Landing Zammit is a result of those efforts. As a junior, Zammit passed for 2582 yards and threw 35 touchdowns. On the ground, he totaled 560 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
Five-star Athlete Brandon Arrington (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-3, 180 lbs, Mount Miguel HS in California - No. 29 player overall, No. 2 Athlete, and No. 2 player in California.
Arrington announced his official visit to Washington on Tuesday. It comes as a complete surprise as Oregon, Texas A&M, and USC are considered to be favorites for the five-star athlete. Arrington plays both wide receiver and defensive back. He boasts blazing speed and is a highly regarded sprinter on the national scene. Getting him on campus is a big victory for Washington.
Four-star Edge Landon Barnes (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-4, 245 lbs, Duncanville HS in Texas - No. 194 player overall, No. 21 Edge, and No. 28 player in Texas.
Washington, who is in Barnes’ Top 8, made a home visit with Barnes in May. Barnes visited UW’s Junior Day in March. Though Barnes is located outside of the Huskies’ traditional recruiting footprint, Washington has made it far with the talented Edge recruit out of Texas.
Four-star Safety Gavin Day (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-3, 190 lbs, Faith Lutheran in Nevada - No. 224 player overall, No. 19 Safety, and No. 2 player in Nevada.
Things escalated quickly with Day, who received an offer from the Huskies in early May. Day subsequently set an official visit with Washington, and then had an in-home visit with Huskies’ Safeties Coach Taylor Mays. Then, 247 Sports analyst Blair Angulo set a crystal ball for Day to commit to Washington this past weekend.
SMU-commit three-star Cornerback Ryan Gilbert (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-0, 180 lbs, North Forney in Texas - No. 44 Cornerback and No. 73 player in Texas.
Update - Ryan Gilbert will not be visiting. It is unclear whether Gilbert will take his official visit to Washington after committing to SMU in mid-May. Previously, Gilbert was committed to Texas A&M, before reopening his recruitment this past February. Given that Gilbert has now committed to another school in Texas, it is highly doubtful that the Huskies would be able to land him.
Three-star Offensive Tackle Dominic Harris (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-8, 325 lbs, Clark HS in Nevada - No. 52 Offensive Tackle and No. 5 player in Nevada
Washington Offensive Line Coach Michael Switzer visited Harris in Nevada two times in May. Harris was at a UW spring practice in April and said the “coaching staff was definitely a big part that stood out to me.” Harris visited Auburn in May and also has visits set with Arizona, Utah, and Oregon in June.
USC-commit three-star Cornerback Josh Holland (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-2, 170 lbs, St. John Bosco in California - No. 29 Cornerback and No. 38 player in California.
Per a source, Holland may be visiting Washington again this weekend after attending UW’s Junior Day in March. Everything points to him staying committed to USC, but the Huskies have remained relevant in his recruitment.
Three-star Cornerback Derrick Johnson II (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-2, 170 lbs, Murrieta Valley HS in California - No. 50 Cornerback and No. 51 player in California.
Johnson is a Husky legacy. His father, Derrick Johnson, played for the Huskies from 2000 to 2004 and had a four-year NFL career as a cornerback. Johnson II did not include Washington in his Top 6 in February, but it looks like the Huskies are making a push to secure his commitment.
Oklahoma-commit Wide Receiver Daniel Odom (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-1, 178 lbs, St. John Bosco in California - No. 42 Wide Receiver and No. 30 player in California.
Per a source, Odom is expected to visit Washington this weekend. Odom had Washington in his top 6, before committing to Oklahoma in January. He seems like a decent flip candidate, especially with Washington being on the West Coast. Despite being committed to Oklahoma, Odom’s commitment appears to be open as he has an official visit set with Florida State on June 6.
Three-star Athlete Dre Pollard (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-0, 175 lbs, Clark HS in Nevada - No. 39 Athlete and No. 3 player in Nevada.
Pollard has speed. At Nevada’s track state championships, Pollard won a triple crown, winning the 100m, 200m, and 400m dash races. Washington made an in-home visit with Pollard last week.
Four-star Edge David Schwerzel (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-4, 250 lbs, O’Dea HS in Washington - No. 37 Edge and No. 2 player in Washington.
The Huskies are serious about pairing UW-commit Derek Colman-Brusa with another local and heralded Edge recruit in David Schwerzel. Washington made an in-home visit with Schwerzel last week and Schwerzel has been a frequent visitor to UW, including the spring game, a spring practice in April, and Junior Day in March.
Georgia-commit, four-star Wide Receiver Vance Spafford (2026) - May 30 - June 1
5-11, 185 lbs, Mission Viejo HS in California - No. 124 player overall, No. 12 WR, and No. 17 player in California.
Spafford committed to Georgia last November, but remains a prominent flip candidate for Washington. The four-star recruit visited Washington in April and in March. In his junior season, he tallied 1017 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Texas A&M-commit, four-star Wide Receiver Madden Williams (2026) - May 30 - June 1
6-1, 185 lbs, St. John Bosco in California - No. 38 WR and No. 27 player in California.
Washington is working to flip Williams, who committed to Texas A&M at the end of December. Williams also has visits set with USC, Florida State, and Texas A&M in June. The Huskies have already landed a commitment from Williams’ high school teammate, kicker C.J. Wallace.
