Huskies Land Two Commitments After Star-Studded Official Visit Weekend
Top 2026 football recruits rave about Washington Huskies official visit weekend as UW football recruiting gains momentum

The University of Washington football program’s first official visit weekend lived up to the hype—and then some. Fifteen priority recruits from the 2026 class spent the weekend in Seattle, and the immediate returns are already showing: four-star safety Gavin Day and three-star offensive lineman Dominic Harris both announced their commitments to the Huskies on Sunday evening.
For head coach Jedd Fisch and his staff, it was a pivotal recruiting weekend to reinforce bonds with current commits, impress uncommitted visitors, and sell a vision of Washington football powered by elite coaching and a clear path to the NFL.
And by all accounts, the pitch landed.

“This visit meant everything to me and my family,” said three-star offensive line commit Ah Deong Yang. “As a commit, what kept reaffirming my decision was the atmosphere and the coaches . . . [e]veryone just had this great contagious energy.”
Four-star Washington commit Edge Derek Colman-Brusa echoed that sentiment. “This visit [ ] confirmed my decision. I loved hanging with the players and the coaches,” he said. “The pressure was off because I was already locked in, so it was more about getting to know the coaches and players even more.”
Three-star safety Gavin Day, who committed to the Huskies shortly after the visit, had been trending toward UW in the days leading up to the weekend. On3’s Chad Simmons and 247Sports’ Blair Angulo both forecasted the decision correctly. After experiencing the visit firsthand, Day didn’t wait long to make it official.
Joining him in the class is three-star offensive tackle Dominic Harris, another visitor who left impressed enough to commit just hours after heading home.
Washington’s 2026 class now sits at 11 commits and continues to climb in the national rankings at No. 20 on 247 Sports. But that number might not hold for long.
On Sunday morning, head coach Jedd Fisch posted a not-so-cryptic tweet featuring four umbrella emojis—one of his signature signals that new commitments are in the works. With Day and Harris now public, that post strongly suggests there are at least two more silent commits waiting to be announced.
Among the standout uncommitted visitors was four-star defensive lineman David Schwerzel, who noted the professional pedigree of the coaching staff as a major draw.
“What stood out to me [about my visit] was the culture… and the years of experience of college and NFL coaching on [Washington’s] staff,” Schwerzel told SeaTown Sports. “[A] standout message was [that] UW is the 33rd NFL team and they will run a pro-style program. It definitely impacted me in a positive way.”
That sentiment was shared by current commits who also made the trip.
Defensive back CJ Lavender said, “What stood out to me the most is how much love and hospitality not just myself felt, but my family received. All weekend they were well taken care of and had a great time. I had an amazing time hanging with my future teammates and am looking forward to being back.”
Kicker commit CJ Wallace called the visit “outstanding,” highlighting personal time with Coaches Petrilli, Froelich, and Fisch.

Four-star quarterback commit Derek Zammit also made his official visit to Washington this past weekend. He and the other currently-committed 2026 recruits were likely trying to make their pitch to the other visitors to join them.
Even for recruits still making their decisions, the message from the weekend was clear: Washington is on the rise, and the staff is building something serious in Seattle.
Three-star athlete Dre Pollard, another priority target, continues to be projected to UW by On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine model. After his visit, Pollard said the “love” and “vibes” from the coaches stood out to him.
Five-star Athlete Brandon Arrington, who also made an official visit, posted a positive message for Washington after his visit: “Don’t sleep on Washington in my recruiting process.”
The weekend marked the first of three major June visit weekends for the Huskies. With another slate of official visitors scheduled for this coming week, Fisch and his coaching staff will look to build on their current momentum.
